Growing up, I played the game of Christianity well. I talked the talk, walked the walk—I did everything that one would do to be considered a “good Christian.”

Despite that, I spent my entire life feeling like I wasn’t enough and wasn’t worthy. It wasn’t until I hit my lowest point at a conference this past summer with Faith Young Adults that I realized a seat had been prepared for me at the table all along—next to someone and something much greater than I could have ever imagined. I wasn’t defined by my depression, anxiety, or grief- and this wasn’t a game of who could do it best; this was personal. That night, the Lord radically changed my heart and mind, and I walked away from the altar ready and willing to lay down my life for His glory.

It was that same night that I heard about Africa Freedom Mission and Freedom House International. I instantly fell in love with their mission statement and their heart. In September of 2024, I felt God calling me to Africa with AFM. In those moments of feeling His call, I also realized He had given me a heart for missions, for people, for the next generation, and a desire to reach the broken.

I knew that FHI was very intentional about how they prepared and poured into others. That's why I took a leap of faith and decided to apply for FHDS in the fall. Once again, I felt God nudging me to move forward without hesitation and to lay down my own plans for His. And because of that I am here, and I could not be more excited for this opportunity to learn more about who He is, who I am in Him, and how this experience will equip both myself and those around me for the future seasons the Lord has placed us in.
